Bark-BQ is our spring philanthropy event where guests are encouraged to bring their dogs and enjoy live music from local bands and catered food. All the money raised from this event benefits The Starkey Hearing Foundation, our national philanthropy, Brennen Elementary and The Sertoma Club, two of our local philanthropies that we support.
Sweet Caroline is an event specific to our chapter of Delta Zeta. This event, typically held in February, is in honor of our late sister, Caroline, who passed away in 2005. During this event, sisters are stationed at tables scattered across campus and encourage people to join the National Bone Marrow Registry, in hopes that one day they may be a match and have a chance at saving a life.
In Spring 2020, our chapter added 400 new names to the National Bone Marrow Registry with help from Gift of Life.
Our sisters are lucky to be able to volunteer locally with at Brennen Elementary School in their class with children who are hard of hearing. Our sisters help out in the classroom by doing crafts and interacting with the students, all while learning how to incorporate sign language into day to day life. We are also able to make donations to the school through what we raise from our philanthropy events each year!
