Bark-B-Q is our spring philanthropy event where guests are encouraged to bring their dogs, enjoy live music from local bands, and potentially be the winner of a raffle prize! All the money raised from this event benefits The Starkey Hearing Foundation, our national philanthropy and a local philanthropy of Beta Delta's choice. Last year, in 2022, we were able to raise over $21,000 and are looking forward to continuing making a difference in our community and around the world!
Sweet Caroline is an event specific to our chapter of Delta Zeta since 2005, when our sister Caroline was in need of a bone marrow transplant. We continue Sweet Caroline's bone marrow registry drive every year in honor of our late sister in order to continue her legacy and help others in need find a match. During this event, sisters are stationed at tables scattered across campus and encourage people to join the National Bone Marrow Registry, in hopes that one day they may be a match and have a chance at saving a life. In the Spring of 2022, our chapter was able to add over 1,100 new names to the National Bone Marrow Registry with help from Gift of Life!
Our sisters are lucky to be able to volunteer locally with at Brennen Elementary School in their class with children who are hard of hearing. Our sisters help out in the classroom by doing crafts and interacting with the students, all while learning how to incorporate sign language into day to day life. We are also able to make donations to the school through what we raise from our philanthropy events each year!
